Breaking News : Barcelona lose £88M in disastrous financial year

Barcelona have revealed they ended the 2019-2020 financial year with a £97million loss as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The club ended the year with a revenue of £775m, below their £950m target set in the budget. Before COVID-19 struck, the LaLiga side were forecast a revenue of 1.59 billion (£960m) – which would have set a record for a football club. Barca highlighted the impact of playing behind closed doors as well as the total cancellation of the basketball Euroleague, which resulted in a huge loss of income. Barca players volunteered a 70 percent reduction in wages at the start of the pandemic, lasting for the duration of the state of emergency called on March 14. But pay cuts were always a temporary measure.   Manchester United have completed the signing of striker Edinson Cavani on a free transfer, the club announced on Monday. Cavani has signed a two-year deal at Old Trafford, while both the club and player have the option to break the agreement after one year. Manchester United is delighted to announce the signing of striker Edinson Cavani.  The Uruguay international joins on a one-year contract with the option to extend for a further year. Cavani, who has won the Golden Boot in both Ligue 1 and Serie A, has scored 341 goals at club level since moving to Europe in 2007, including 35 in the UEFA Champions League. September 23rd marked the end of an era as Barcelona confirmed the transfer of Barcelona legend, Luis Suarez to rivals Atletico Madrid. After spending six wonderful years at the Camp Nou , the 33 year old striker has certainly left his name in the record books of the Blaugrana making 283 appearances, scoring 198 goals and 109 assists alongside best friend Lionel Messi.   During his farewell press conference, Suarez had this to say.,  "I played with the greatest players in history here and  I will always stay a Cule, no matter the where I am.  Juventus have completed the signing of Alvaro Morata on a season long loan deal.  Juve have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid for a one year loan deal which is set to cost €9 million and an option to buy for €45 million.  The strike previously spent two years in Italy with the Bianconeri where he scored 15 goals in 63 games,  helping them to two league titles and the 2015 champions league final.  The 27 year old has struggled for consistency with Diego Simeone's side since he return to the Spanish capital in 2018, however 12 league goals last season may have handed him  a second chance in Simeone's plans at the Wanda Metropolitano.

  Cristiano Ronaldo scored  his 66th goals for Juventus on Sunday as he began the defense of its Serie A title with 3:0 win over Sampdoria. * The strike means the Portuguese forward has now scored more goals for Juventus than club legend and former Ballon d'or winner  Pavel Nedved, who hit 65 goals in 327 games between 2001 and 2009.  "It's  always good to start the season with a win" Ronaldo said on Instagram after the victory. BRAZILIAN STAR NEYMAR TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

PSG and Brazilian star Neymar has tested positive for Coronavirus with the League 1 club confirming that three players have also contracted the virus.  Though, the league 1 Champions did not name the players involved, but Angel Di Maria,  32, and Leandro Paredes, 26, are believed to be the other two players to have tested positive for the Pandemic., as reported by French Outlet L'Equipe.

Jorge Messi's meeting with Josep Bartomeu will be one of the most monumental in Barcelona's history.  Before Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu meet with Jorge Messi, which happened to be on Wednesday, he will need to seek unity in the boardroom.  Messi's father Jorge will step in to Barcelona this week and the face to face meeting has been agreed upon for Wednesday this week.  Bartomeu has briefed that when the meeting does happen he will use that opportunity to urge the Messi camp to sign a contract extension extending his time at the club for two more years.

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek after reaching an agreement over a fee with the Dutch team. The two clubs coincide a fee in a demesne of £40m. Donny Van de Beek is poise to become Manchester United's first signing of the transfer. 

FORMER MAN CITY MIDFIELDER DAVID SILVA TEST POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS

  Real Sociedad new signing David Silva has tested positive for Coronavirus following his move to the  La Liga side.  Silva leaved City following their egress from Champions league and announced a switch to Spain., he joined Real Sociedad on a free transfer.  The 34 year old has tested positive for COVID-19 though is not showing any symptoms and is self isolating.

 According to MD the father of the player,  Jorge Messi, will meet the Barcelona president to discuss the position.  The meeting between Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu and Lionel Messi's father, Jorge Messi, will take place this coming Wednesday to discuss the way forward. Though the situation between player and club is not in good shape, after Messi told the club he was breaking his contract and then refuse to attend COVID-19 test on Sunday morning. Bartomeu and Jorge Messi have stayed in touch by telephone, and have agreed  to meet to try and reach an agreement over the future of the player.
