SCHOOL RESUMPTION : States that will resume school on Monday 28th September, 2020.

State government have started the necessary protocols in ensuring that activities begin in their state taking in to consideration the directives from the federal government and the Presidential Task Force (PTF). 

Some states have resumed with few others yet to resume but of state that will resume school activities on Monday 28th September, 2020 will be highlighted. 
There are only 5 States that have scheduled  their Resumption date to 28th of September. These are details on resumption  based on the various state government announcement.

AKWA IBOM 
 Though Akwa Ibom state government has fixed September 21, 2020, for the state-owned university, College of education and public primary schools to commence processes for the resumption of academic activities, while both state-owned and private secondary schools and Polytechnic will resume for full academic activities on September 28th a and October 5th respectively, with the condition with strict compliance with COVID-19  protocol, which must also be reviewed with parents.



ABIA STATE

The Abia state government announced 
28th September as date scheduled for school resumption in primary and secondary schools only. This resumption will ensure that students complete their third term of the 2019/2020 academic session. 

The resumption of third term will begin with one week revision classes. The Commissioner of information chief John Okiyi Kalu that examination for third term will begin from October 5- October 16. 
There will be only one week for the teacher to prepare their result sheet.

The first term of 2020/2021 will kick off on October 26- December 23. The Commissioner also stated that other  guidelines to ensure adequate adherence to COVID-19 protocols and fees will be charged by private schools and will be published by the Commissioner for Education.

DELTA STATE 
 Delta State governor Sen Dr.  Ifeanyi Okowa, has approved the Resumption of primary and secondary schools beginning from 28th September, 2020. 

This resumption will see that students in JSS 1-2 and SS1-2 conclude their  second term of 2019 /2020 academic session from September 28- October 9 with written examination. Boarders are expected to resume on 27th September. 
For primary schools, only primary 4 & 5 will commence with concluding their examinations from October 6- October 9.
There will be no examination for pupils in primary 1-3. 

Resumption date for first term 2020/2021 academic calendar will run from October 12 - December 18. Resumption for Nursery and Kindergarten 1-2 has been postponed til January. All parents  and guardians in Delta State are expected to prepare their children and ward with the necessary COVID19 safety protocols and guidelines. 

EDO STATE 
The election process is over and the humble approval of school resumption in Edo state has seen students, parents and teachers excited.

The approval of the state governor for school to resume on the 28th September was made known in a statement by the commissioner of Education Jimoh Ijegbai. 
The resumption will begin with first term of the 2020/2021 academic calendar. 

In order to observe the safety measures in like with the COVID19 approved protocols, class schedule will be used to help improve social distancing in classrooms. 

JSS1-3 = 8am-11an
SS1-3= 12pm-3pm
Parents and guardian are expected to provide face masks for their children/ward to prevent the spread of COVID19. School heads are to adhere strictly to the approved COVID19 safety protocols. 

School Calendar for the 2020/2021 academic session is to be collected for the chief inspector of education in the 18 local government areas.

ENUGU STATE 
The Enugu state governor has approved the resumption of school activities after the initial resumption  was cancelled by the state ministry of education. 

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi a.k.a Gbururgburur has approved the resumption of primary and secondary schools in the state after a circular was released by the state government. Also, academic calendar and resumption procedures has been highlighted in the published calendar.

Note that the resumption of schools begins with third term of 2019/2020 academic session.

15 Security Officials Killed As Boko Haram Attacks Borno Govt's Convoy.

Some soldiers and policemen were killed after Boko Haram insurgents ambushed a convoy of government officials in Borno. A Convoy conveying officials of the Borno State Government has been attacked near Monguno town.  The officials were ambushed by Boko Haram terrorists on Friday while they were journeying to Baga, where Governor Babagana Zulum is expected to receive returning IDPs.  It is still uncertain what the real casualty figure is, but at least fifteen security men might have been kill in the ambush.  It was, however, gathered that the casualties include both police, military personnel, and an unspecified number of civilians.  An Armoured Personnel Carrier  belonging to the police as well as state government vehicles were reportedly hijacked in the attack.   Governor Babagana Zulum had flown in an Airforce chopper  to Baga, where he performed the Friday prayers with troops.  The governor is expected to receive about three thousand civilians who will be transported  from IDP camps

TWO DEAD , ONE MISSING IN LAGOS BOAT MISFORTUNE

Two persons have been confirmed dead, One missing, Four rescued in a boat misfortune which occurred on Monday around Offin Ibeshe, Ikorodu area of Lagos state , Nigeria.  The General Manager of Lagos State Waterways Authority, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel substantiated this in a statement, saying that the victims were going to a relative's  funeral.  He said the Fishing Boat was carrying Seven Passengers., Five adults including the boat captain and two toddlers., when the incident occurred.  The boat from Makoko community capsized in to Lagos lagoon while heading to Offin area in Ikorodu., he stated.  He also stated that, the cause of the accident was the rough water current recorded around the area.  This pathetic incident occurred about 7pm
